American Continental Mountain Bike Championships Report

Pan-American Championships, Finca La Lucha, Costa Rica

The American Continental Mountain Bike Championships (also known as the Pan American Mountain Bike Championships) for 2025 were completed in Costa Rica this past weekend.

Canadians were the top riders in many of the races, with Canada’s Jennifer Jackson winning the Elite Women’s XCO and XCC races and also helping Canada win the Mixed Team Relay, giving her three gold-medal wins for the weekend. America’s Kate Courtney took home silver medals in all those races.

Mexico’s Jose Gerrardo Ulloa Arevalo took the Elite Men’s XCO win. No U.S. rider made the top ten in the Elite Men’s XCO event. We’d guess that the Elite Men’s XC racers’ sponsors chose not to send their riders to Costa Rica, so that the sponsors could afford to send their riders to other events that garner more world-wide attention.

Most of the USA’s top male cross-country racers did not compete in the event.

There were some up-and-coming, young American cross-country riders who did compete in the event, though. America’s Ivan Sippy, 22, took third in the U23 Men’s XCO event, with fellow Americans Jack Spranger, 21, and Dane Gray, 22, finishing in sixth and seventh.

America’s Jack Spranger also took seventh in the Elite Men’s XCC (Short Track Cross-Country) race.

Riders from Mexico, Central America and South America appeared to make up the majority of the participants, with Chile, Brazil and Argentina coming in third, fourth and fifth in the Mixed Team Relay competition, with Canada and the U.S. taking first and second, respectively.
