Ari Introduces the All-New Signal Peak 3.0 Next-Gen Cross Country Bike
Ari has developed a third-generation Signal Peak cross-country bike that’s a whopping 305 grams lighter than the previous version. It comes with an all-new suspension design and a long list of other improvements to keep it competitive in the quickly evolving cross-country category.
Ari says that it was able to achieve a 14.3% weight reduction in the Signal Peak’s frame thanks to a highly efficient new tube shaping that improves resin exclusion resulting in reduced weight and greater strength. In its lightest configuration, a size large Signal Peak frame hits the scales at a claimed 1732 grams (size large, raw carbon/podium gold color).
Other features include tube-in-tube internal cable routing, 2.4” tire clearance, custom-molded frame protectors, a threaded bottom bracket, and an uninterrupted, straight seat tube, for a longer dropper post insertion. Every frame size has room for two bottles inside the front triangle and mounts for a third under the downtube.
The Signal Peak’s head tube angle gets 0.5 degrees slacker than the previous generation and now comes in at 66.5 degrees. Its seat tube is now a full degree steeper than before at 76 degrees and Ari says that’s measured at real-world saddle heights.
A new suspension system dubbed Tetra-Link Race Lite achieves 110mm of rear wheel travel. It is essentially a single pivot system with a flex zone located at the seatstays. Ari locates the zero-energy position at sag so there is slight resistance before and after that point.
Ari says that this design allows the seatstay to act as a leaf spring that helps keep the bike at sag when pedaling, preventing pedal bob, and allows them to fine-tune the end stroke ramp-up they claim is inherent in flex-stay suspension designs. They also say that at full extension, the energy stored in the rear triangle helps actuate the shock leading to a smooth sensation off the top that quickly transitions to a supportive mid-stroke.
Ari offers the Signal Peak in five different build configurations ranging in price from $9399 for the SRAM XX SL Transmission and Rockshox Flight Attendant equipped Signal Peak Team to $3799 for a Shimano Deore-built Signal Peak Comp. It is also offered as a frame for $2999 or as a frameset with a three-position remote Rockshox SID Ultimate and SIDLuxe Ultimate shock costing $3499.
