DT/SWISS CENTERLOCK DISC BRAKE ADAPTER

I had a chance to use DT/Swiss? trick looking disc brake adapter this month to slip sweet looking wavy Magura Rotors onto a pair of DT wheels with Centerlock-type hubs. Centerlock is Shimano’s name for its splined interface that was first used on ?04 XTR hubs and now graces every disc brake hub from XTR to LX. DT’s adapter is unique in that it doesn?t require screws to fix the rotor, which saves weight, and retains the thread-on collar that makes the Centerlock feature simple and easy.

The DT adapter system consists of two parts: a splined aluminum flange with six pegs that fits the bolt holes in conventional rotors; and a threaded collar which screws into the hub to retain the rotor. The six pegs are machined part way to allow the retaining collar to overlap the bolt circle of the rotor.

DT? solution is elegantly simple, and once the rotor is installed, looks cleaner than the stock Shimano setup. DT’s Centerlock adapter doesn?t discriminate between eight inch and six-inch rotors, either, should you decide to upgrade to larger rotors at a later date. The DT system uses the same spline-type installation tool as Shimano Centerlock hubs (the standard Shimano freehub tool), that most of us already own.

DOES THE DT ADAPTER DO IT FOR US?
We?d put DT’s Centerlock adapter on the MBA must-have list. It is far easier to install than six Torx screws and looks as if it was designed to be there in the first place. We used them on both standard and oversized rotors with no loosening or noise. They look good, are well engineered and do their job well. Good work, DT/Swiss.
