Photo of the Day: The Louisville Mega Cavern
With the weather getting a bit unpredictable for the next few months, this could be a good time to check out some of the indoor mountain bike parks. Ray’s MTB in Cleveland, Ohio, is still this photographer’s all-time favorite bike park, and maybe even all-time favorite place to ride. That said, though, Kentucky’s Louisville Mega Cavern is one of the most unusual riding areas we’ve ever seen and worth checking out as well. Located in what was once an underground limestone mine, the Louisville Mega Cavern’s bike park comprises some 320,000 square feet of space, with trails for everyone from beginners to experts. It’s also open all year. Lying 100 feet below the earth’s surface, the cavern naturally stays around 60 degrees Fahrenheit in both summer and winter. Photo: JK/Mountain Bike Action
