Throwback Thursday: Mountain Biking Near Eureka, California
Riding among the tall trees
“Back in 2009, I took a long trip up the California coast to enjoy some riding in other locations besides Southern California. It’s nice to get a change of scenery once in a while when I’m riding mountain bikes or shooting photos of other people getting out on rides. This was a trail in Arcata, which is right next to Eureka, California. My friend Vic Armco talked me into checking it out with some of his friends.
“The trail is known as Arcata Community Forest Trail #6, and it was absolutely beautiful. The tall trees (I think they were relatively young redwood trees, about 90 years old) made the trail so dark that I had to set up remote-controlled flashes to get some decent pictures. That’s my friend Vic Armijo, riding second in this group. I’ll have to thank him again the next time I see him.” — Photo and story by John Ker/Mountain Bike Action
