ALL-NEW CLIP PEDALS FROM ONEUP COMPONENTS
Light enough for XC, strong enough for DH
ALL-NEW CLIP PEDALS FROM ONEUP COMPONENTS
OneUp Components has unveiled its latest component offering: the OneUp Clip Pedals. Claimed to be light enough for cross-country racing while being strong enough to take on downhill riding, these new SPD-compatible pedals from the PNW-based brand are available in eight different colors to match your heart’s desire.
At a claimed 26.8mm in thickness, OneUp’s Clip Pedals are supposedly the thinnest mountain bike clip pedals on the market, which they say helps take advantage of the pedal’s platform, reduces weight, and reduces the chance of rock strikes. The large DH-sized platform measures in at 80mm x 90mm and is designed to actively support your shoe while riding, giving you more confidence and control instead of putting all of your weight into the binding mechanism. There are also four adjustable pins per side to fine-tune the grip and feel, depending on your preferences.
According to OneUp Components, they chose the SPD cleat system “because it’s proven, reliable, and the world’s most popular cleat standard.” They developed a custom binding mechanism that integrates with the SPD system and is claimed to eliminate all front-back and up-down movement, giving riders a tighter and more precise cleat fit that remains locked in time after time without sacrificing float or ease of release. OneUp’s mechanism gives riders 5 degrees of float and a 12-degree release angle, which can be fine-tuned and adjusted with their wide-ranging spring tension adjustment. They also include cleat spacers to help achieve the perfect fit with almost any riding shoe.
The OneUp Components Clip Pedals have DH-rated spindles that are strong enough for any kind of riding. They integrate sealed cartridge bearings throughout the construction that are long-lasting and resistant to the elements while also being easy to replace when the time inevitably comes. And, at a claimed 410g per pedal, they’re light enough to take on cross-country riding while being strong enough to take on burly DH racing.
