Esker Cycles Introduces the Howdy & Woodsy Full Suspension Mountain Bikes
(ESKER CYCLES PRESS RELEASE)
After taking a break from full suspension for nearly two years, Esker Cycles is back with two new models. Esker has made the shift away from carbon fiber and put all of its focus on aluminum and titanium frames.
Esker designed the Howdy and Woodsy to be simple, easy, and fun. Yet still utilizing the Dave Weagle designed, Orion Suspension System form their previous generation. They went back to basics with a straight-forward metal bike, balanced geometry, simple mechanics, at a good value. No gimmicks, no fluff, no nonsense.
The Howdy and Woodsy combine the durability and easy maintenance of Esker’s famous hardtails with a dash of rear suspension for extra comfort and control.

What’s in a name?
Named after the “Good Outdoor Manners Raccoon.” of the mid-twentieth century US Forest Service campaign. Howdy was born deep in the woods of Pennsylvania in 1959, and burst on the scene as the US Forest Service’s companion to Smokey the Bear. This smiling, flannel clad raccoon encouraged the nation to not litter, be fire aware, but most importantly to practice good manners while using the forest.

What’s in a name?
Woodsy is a mascot for the United States Forest Service with the aim of motivating children to form healthy, lasting relationships with nature. Originally created in 1970 as part of a campaign to raise awareness for environmental protection. Woodsy Owl has been an integral part of the educational program of the US Forest Service for decades and is particularly active against littering and environmental pollution. Woodsy’s original motto of “Give a hoot! Don’t pollute” has been ingrained in the memories of countless Americans recreating in the forests of the United States.
Orion Suspension
Dave Weagle’s Orion Dynamics is the latest in a long line of his industry defining suspension platforms. The Orion design provides an efficient and stable pedaling response on all terrain.. Exceptional mid-travel square-edged bump compliance creates continuous traction in varied terrain so you’re always in control.
Originally designed for use in the motorcycle world but now a reality for a bicycle thanks to single chainring drivetrains. Its two small links work in concert with the concentric bottom bracket to provide controlled lateral stiffness and keep braking forces in check. Seated or standing, climbing or cornering, jumping or hammering rock gardens, Orion does it all and does it well.
