MOUNTAIN BIKING AFTER A WILDFIRE IN CALIFORNIA
The mountain bike trails survived the fires
Southern California has been hit with a number or devastating wildfires the last few weeks, but one bit of good news is that the mountain bike trails in the burned areas are usually ridable again after the fires have been put out.
This photo was taken at Lake Castaic , California, almost 12 years ago, shortly after a fire swept through the area where the mountain bike trails were located, about five miles north of MBA’s offices.
A few days before the mountain bike race shown above, a wildfire had swept through this area near Lake Castaic where the race was scheduled to be held, but the race course was opened back up again shortly after the fire was put out, and race promoter Greg Flanagan was able to hold the race as scheduled.
