FORMER MBA EDITOR “ZAP” ESPINOZA LOSES HIS HOME TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WILDFIRE
"So, we start again," Zap told his friends on Facebook
Zapata Espinoza, the former long-time editor of both Mountain Bike Action and Road Bike Action magazines, shared a video of himself on Facebook today, standing in front of the smoking remains of his house after it burned down in one of the many fires sweeping through Southern California in the last 24 hours.
Zap stood in front of the smoldering remains of his house and said: “Hey, everybody. . . . Thanks for checking in. I really appreciate it. This is what’s left. Nothing. . . . This is not a big house or fancy house, but it was our house, and I did love it. . . . So, we start again.”
This photo Zap shared shows the remains of Zap’s house today, with nearby homes still in flames.
Zap choked up at the end of his video statement.
We send our heartfelt condolences to Zap and his daughter, Xakota, who must have lost a lot of precious memories in the fire.
Zap was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 1995.
