HUNT’s in-house engineer, Ollie Mant (Masters, Mech Eng), led the Enduro V3’s development, refining every detail through 146 hours of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) stress testing, followed by in-house lab impact tests against key competitors. Leading to a wheelset that offered:

• 40% reduction in peak spoke pull-through stress
• 13% lower maximum impact stresses compared to traditional rounded profiles
• A new design that handles impacts better and requires 20 joules more energy to show initial signs of damage (compared to Enduro Wide V2)

The HUNT engineering team put the Enduro V3 through a rigorous series of impact tests, measuring both initial damage energy (minor dents) and failure energy (ride-ending failure). The Enduro V3 emerged with a total energy rating of 560 joules—one of the highest in its category.

To prove its strength in the real world, HUNT handed OMG-labeled prototypes (‘Ollie Mant Gravity’) to Joe Connell, Lachlan Blair, Guillaume Labreyou, Tyler McCaul, and The Firm, to put them through their paces on trails around the world to homemade forest freeride lines, National DH series to EDR races.

The result? The HUNT Enduro V3 is HUNT’s most durable alloy wheelset to date.

How HUNT uses FEA to Engineer Stronger, More Durable Wheels

Different Forces, Different Solutions

Front and rear wheels experience different forces, so HUNT’s engineers designed them accordingly. The front rim (31.5mm internal width) maximizes compliance and control, while the burly rear (30mm internal, V-shaped profile) is engineered to take impact after impact. Crafted from a high-strength G609 aluminium alloy similar to 6069, that boasts an ultimate tensile strength 30% higher than 6061.

FEA simulations optimized wall thickness and geometry, removing non-structural material for the ideal balance of strength and weight. A work-hardened, shot-peened finish reinforces the rim’s surface for added toughness, while laser-etched graphics keep Enduro V3 looking fresh, ride after ride.

New for the Enduro V3, HUNT specs Enduro ABEC5 LLU bearings for their long-lasting durability. With full-contact seals, these industry-leading cartridge bearings keep out dirt, water, and grime, ensuring smooth, worry-free performance in the toughest conditions.

For uncompromising strength and quality, HUNT hand-builds each wheelset with triple-butted Pillar J-bend spokes made from high-grade T302 stainless steel by Sandvik, Sweden. Reinforced with Pillar’s patented PSR tech, 28 spokes up front and 32 in the rear deliver the perfect balance of compliance and durability. A black stainless-steel treatment resists corrosion and fatigue, and brass nipples and stainless steel nipple washers are fitted as standard ensuring long-lasting performance in any condition.

When you need rock-solid durability and instant power transfer, the new H_Ratchet XL 40T DBL hub delivers. With 9° engagement and a 40-tooth double ratchet ring system, this hub locks in when you stomp the pedals.

The oversized ratchet disc on the inboard side is built to handle high torque loads, ensuring long-term strength. A CNC’d 6066-T6 heat-treated alloy body features a 6-bolt disc mount and labyrinth bearing sealing to keep the elements out. 17mm wide 7075-T6 stepped axle maximizes stiffness, reducing flex and misalignment for a smoother, longer-lasting bearing life. With the H_CERAMIK freehub coating, cassette gouging is a thing of the past.
