The Short Track points standings changed after Friday's races at Nove Mesto
Friday’s XC Short Track races in Nove Mesto brought some major changes to the men’s and women’s rankings. Before this weekend’s Short Track races started, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Alan Hatherly were leading the rankings for the women and men. We overheard (unofficially) on the race broadcast that Pauline broke her chain in the race, causing her to pull out of the competition, costing her whatever points she would have earned in Friday’s race. Alan Hatherly finished 11th in Nove Mesto on Friday, only 5 seconds off the winning time, but the loss of potential points he would have earned with a higher finish dropped him down to second in the new Short Track points rankings.
Australia’s Rebecca McConnell and Germany’s Luca Schwarzbauer came out of Friday’s races with the new points leads. Below are the points leads of the top 10 riders in the Elite Men’s and Elite Women’s ranks, as shown by Red Bull TV in their live broadcast of the event.
