NEAR SANTA CRUZ, CA

Finishing up an evening ride near Santa Cruz, my buddy Alain Lanusse spotted a nice natural hip on our way back down the trail. We decided to session it for a bit and came away with a couple of cool photos. Great way to cap off another great ride out in the wild.

BACK HOME TO AUSTRALIA

Here is a picture from the Vintage Ride I organized on my recent trip home to Australia.

We had a good ride on some cool, mellow trails. A few old friends and some good memories. I’m in the Ritchey jersey on a P-22; it’s stock and still flies! Rigid, 3×7 thumb shifters; it just rips singletrack. A gal rode a single-speed bike; an old racing buddy with use of one arm made it along. It was a really fun time.

NO DOGS ALLOWED

This is my buddy “Yeti” with his dog Mazie. Mazie had run nearly 20 miles on this ride only to learn that she wasn’t legal!

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

Generating watts with “wintervals,” this winter I decided to forgo the indoor trainer and do all of my workouts outside. I rode in the dark, the cold and the wet (no snow here in South Texas), and whenever the weather was particularly bad, I reminded myself that sometimes it rains on race day. I’m entering the spring race season feeling fitter than ever—and forever a fan of “wintervals.” The photo was taken by Guy Rubio on the Powerline Trail in San Antonio.

KALAMAZOO, MI

Attached is the snow photo I shot at the Maple Hill MTB Trail in Kalamazoo, Michigan (where I live). Ironically, the trail had too much snow on it, and I only made it about 50 feet down. I stopped, turned around and walked out. This photo was taken on the sledding hill next to the parking lot. It was nice and packed in. The rider is me, shot with a GoPro Hero 9 sitting on a snowball (seriously). The bike is an Airborne Griffin 27.5+ with 27 x 2.8-inch tires (https://airbornebicycles.com/products/griffin).
