SPECIALIZED 2FO ROOST CANVAS FLAT-PEDAL SHOE REVIEW

SPECIALIZED 2FO ROOST CANVAS

Tech features: Specialized’s 2FO Roost Canvas features an upper that is made from, as you might have guessed, durable canvas. The shoes have a relaxed skater look but are packed with tech for riding. They feature an EVA foam midsole and use an ergonomically designed footbed that is said to optimize foot alignment. Specialized uses its SlipNot rubber compound for the outsole. The compound is stamped with a hexagon tread pattern on the bottom of the shoes.

Field test results: Stomping on pedals with the 2FO Canvas took some time for our test riders to get used to. The tread pattern has deep channels that are spaced farther apart than on some of the other shoes we have tested. Using the right set of pedals for the SlipNot tread design was key. On narrower pins, we had more float/movement, which was fine for some riders. Other testers preferred pedals with larger pins for more stability and less movement when hanging on. The Roost Canvas shoes are stiffer than most flat-pedal trail shoes, which made us feel more comfortable and better supported on technical descents. These are great trail riding shoes for the price, with a look that functions just as well off the bike.
