ENDURA MT500 BURNER FLAT

Tech features:

Endura is a company that is familiar to riders for its clothing, and the company has recently added shoes to its line. Endura uses a proprietary compound in its outsoles called StickyFoot Dura Rubber in places where your shoe will be in contact with the pedals. A standout is the added tread design at the toe and heel that uses a stiffer StickyFoot Grip Rubber for off-the-bike traction. The MT500 Burner Flat also utilizes durable upper fabrics, traditional laces with Velcro straps, tongue gaiters to keep debris out, and Sharkskin fabric on the heels to hold the feet in place and protect the toe and heel box.

Field test results:

We fell in love with how comfortable the sole of the MT500 Burner Flats feels. The removable insert has a nice texture with little bumps that massage your feet when sliding the shoes on. The second bit of tech that can be felt is the Sharkskin fabric that has just enough friction against sock materials to lock your heel into place without movement. It’s not the best breathing shoe in our lineup, but it does offer great protection with its stiff toe cap, high-sided ankle design and supportive sole.

These shoes served best as all-mountain shoes, but they are also supportive and able to absorb trail impacts when used on a downhill rig at a bike park. They paired well with lower-profile, pinned pedals to get the most traction out of the arrow-shaped tread that Endura uses. A bonus is a tread at the heel and toe, as it provided great traction for hiking back up for session laps.
