Combat guards are the new knee/shin combos from Troy Lee Designs. At first glance they look like they probably were made to catch baseballs rather than to ride mountain bikes. They’re a bit longer than a standard knee/shin guard but the extra length makes room for four elastic straps that hold them in place better than just about any other pad on the market. The insides are padded with a thick, breathable nylon that makes pinching the seat super-comfortable. Because the pads are so well secured they do tend to be
a little stiff when pedaling. Combat Guards will be perfect for downhill, dual slalom and BMX riders who have trouble with motorcycle style pads falling down to their ankles every time they try to pedal.
