ENDURA MT500 WATERPROOF JACKET II REVIEW

Tech features: Endura constructs its MT500 II jacket out of ExoShell40DR three-layer, waterproof, breathable fabric. This material is certified as environmentally safe and safe for human use, as it contains no toxic PFCs. The jacket is fully seam-sealed and features durable shoulders with silicone grip and strategically positioned stretch panels for enhanced comfort and mobility. It also comes with a 3D-adjustable, helmet-compatible hood and large, underarm, two-way zipped vents that extend onto the back, making it compatible with hydration packs. Front pockets serve a dual-purpose functioning as vents, and it also includes a concealed internal pocket and a lift-pass pocket.. The water-repellent front zipper is equipped with a storm flap and the inner arm cuffs are made of soft-touch Lycra. It is available in black, Bottle Green, Electric Blue, Fossil and Paprika colors.

Field test results: Endura’s first-generation MT500 rain jacket has been in our test rotation for years and remained unbeatable until we tried the second-generation version. It’s simply the best we have used to date. Precipitation is common in UK where Endura is based, and it really shows in the brand’s rain gear. This jacket strikes the best balance between waterproofness and breathability of anything we’ve tried.
Huge underarm vents combined with two large front vents let air flow like crazy without letting much moisture in while in the riding position. This ventilation greatly extends the time you ride without sweat making you wet from the inside. Unlike fixed fabric vent panels, you can adjust these, too, keeping them closed early in the ride and then let the air flow as the pace picks up.

The hood fits snugly on helmets, thanks to three separate tension-adjustable elastic internal cords. It stays in place at speeds where others easily blow off. If all that’s not enough, it’s a very durable rain jacket, too, fending off brush and small crashes better than most. The fit is roomy and comfortable for a wide range of riders, giving us just one more reason to love the MT500 II jacket.
