We did our monthly “Inside the Pros’ Bikes” feature on Bryn Atkinson and his Pivot Firebird for our June 2024 issue of Mountain Bike Action.

That issue has already been sent out to subscribers and the bike shops that carry Mountain Bike Action. That issue should also be appearing on newsstands throughout the U.S. in the next week or two

While we were working on that article, Bryn also told us how he sets up his Pivot Shuttle LT—his electric mountain bike of choice. You can see those details below.

While talking with Bryn, we also found out that Bryn is one of the six Shimano “SKUNK” riders—the highly-skilled and experienced riders who help Shimano develop and test the next generation of Shimano components before those products become available to the general public.

Bryn is an amazingly good rider, who used to compete in the Crankworx events as well as the World Cup downhill circuit.

Bryn is married to Jill Kintner, who is one of the greatest women’s downhill riders in U.S. history. Jill has won numerous national U.S. titles,  and for many years she also dominated the annual “Queen of Crankworx” competition in Whistler, British Columbia, thanks to her wins in both the downhill and dual slalom competitions in the Crankworx events.

You can see below how Bryn set up his Pivot Shuttle LT. You can be sure that Bryn picks his bike’s components with both tremendous care and attention.
