U23 XCO RESULTS FROM THE PAN AMERICAN GAMES

Riley Amos and Madigan Munro take home the wins for the U.S.

Americans Riley Amos and Madigan Munro won the U23 XCO races at the Pan American Games this past weekend.

By the way, we have heard from a couple of different sources that Riley Amos has clinched the first men’s spot on the U.S. Olympic mountain bike team this year. Ned Overend just told us that he heard it from one of the Trek mechanics.

If that’s true, then Christopher Blevins will have to shoot for the second spot on the team, and he will only get on the U.S. team if the U.S. manages to stay ranked among the top eight nations in the world in the Olympic men’s mountain bike team rankings.

The U.S. women are almost guaranteed to get two riders on the U.S. Olympic mountain bike team, thanks to the fact that the U.S. women are now reportedly ranked third in the world in XC racing, and the top eight nations in the women’s rankings will all get to send two riders to the Olympics.

When last we heard, the U.S. men were ranked seventh in the national Olympic qualification rankings. If all goes well, the U.S. should get both Riley Amos and Christopher Blevins on the U.S. Olympic mountain biking team. We might have to wait for the official announcement, though. The U.S. Olympic mountain bike team members will be announced in early June.
