Pro Tips: Reggie Miller’s Training Tips
REGGIE MILLER’S TRAINING TIPS
An Olympic gold medalist in basketball, Reggie Miller is one of the highest-scoring pro basketball players of all time. He now races mountain bikes every chance he gets.
1. Be sure you stretch and get a good warm-up. The last thing you want to do is be stiff on your bike before doing intervals or a long endurance ride. This prevents injury and helps you mentally prepare for your ride.
2. During hard intervals, I like to picture myself integrating those intervals during an upcoming event/race. It’s called foreshadowing or projecting—picturing when and where those intervals can help during a stressful part of a race helps in my training.
3. Enjoy the sweat. During long endurance training rides, focus on the accomplishment of getting a good workout and how this training will only help you in the long run.
