REAL BULL ATTACKS GRAVEL BIKE RACER!

Four racers were charged by a bull during the Rock Cobbler gravel bike race in Bakersfield, California, on Saturday. Luckily, none of the racers were seriously injured, although some of them were banged up and sore afterward.

REAL BULL ATTACKS GRAVEL BIKE RACER!

Four riders came too close to a bull during the Rock Cobbler gravel bike race in Bakersfield, California, this past weekend and the bull charged them. Check out this video, where the bull knocks down one rider, Tony Inderbitzin, then picks him up with his horns and throws Tony through the air. The same bull did the same thing to another rider, and the bull also knocked down two other riders without throwing them with his horns (there’s a separate video about one of the other attacks, including a video interview with one of the affected riders, from our sister ‘zine Road Bike ActionClick Here).

Fortunately, it’s reported that none of the riders who were attacked were seriously injured. Here’s a video of one of the attacks, with Tony Inderbitzin getting attacked. Inderbitzin is friends with MBA staff photographer Pat Carrigan. Inderbitzin shared his story of what happened on Facebook, which Pat shares here:

“So today I set out on a gravel ride event in Bakersfield called the Rock Cobbler. I’ve heard it’s a really tough ride. If someone would have asked me to list 100 ways I might not finish the ride, I would not have listed this way. I had to call it a day 17 miles into after this bull charged me then circled back & flipped me one more time in case I didn’t understand he was p—ed. This same bull got one other rider this bad, & 2 other[s] just bounced them off [their] bikes. Maybe this is what everyone meant by ‘it’s a tough ride.’ . . .
“As I approached I thought it was a cow. Where I live there’s cows open ranging everywhere, never a problem. When I was within about 10 yards he turned & I realized it was a bull.

“There was a group of people that also witnessed some of the other bull attacks. They stood to the side & videoed the next victim basically. Would have been nice if they would have spent that energy warning riders instead of videoing.

“I got checked out by the paramedics. They said it appeared to be basically muscle soreness.”
