To be a five-time World Cup champion like American rider Aaron Gwin, it takes a huge amount of talent and a sprinkle of the best equipment around. When it comes to tires, Gwin often likes to develop his own. Aaron worked closely with Kenda to develop the all-new Pinner Pro tires. Although we could easily take Gwin’s word about how great these new tires are, we needed to know for ourselves how they performed on our local trails. We hit the dirt this month with a fresh set of Kenda tires mounted and ready to be pinned down some singletrack.
Tech features:
The Pinner Pro tires offer two casing compounds and just one Goldilocks tire width. Options include a 60-tpi AGC casing and a 120-tpi ATC casing in both 29-inch and 27.5-inch diameters. Kenda offers the Pinner tires in a 2.4-inch width currently. Both tires feature a dual-compound, folding bead and are tubeless-ready. The heavier-duty AGC model weighs around 1240 grams give or take.
