TWO AMERICANS ARE LEADING THE U23 XCO CLASS LEAVING LAKE PLACID, NEW YORK

. . . and they're both named Riley

Canadian Cole Punchard won the U23 Men’s XCO race at Lake Placid, raising him to seventh in the overall standings for the 2024 season.

Riley Amos and Bjorn Riley are the top two men in the U23 ranks heading into the final World Cup race of the year at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada this coming weekend.

Riley Amos is still in the lead, but Bjorn Riley is only 151 points behind him, with as many as 165 points available to the winner next week. Bjorn Riley did not compete at Lake Placid.

As the old saying goes, “It’s not over until it’s over,” so we’ll see what happens this coming weekend when the U23 riders meet up again for their last World Cup race of 2024.

In the U23 Women’s class, Germany’s Kira Böhm took second behind Canada’s Isabella Holmgren at Lake Placid, but Böhm has a lead of 155 points going into the final round, so it looks like Böhm will probably win the title, barring any surprises.

America’s Madigan Munro took fourth at Lake Placid. She is now ranked third in the overall rankings for the U23 Women’s XCO class.
