In paging through an old issue of BMX PLUS!, we found this bike test with John Tomac and Rich Bartlett serving as test riders of the first Haro BMX race bike. Check out the black-and-white shots of Tomac on the first and third pages, and check out the two color shots of Rich Bartlett. We know it’s not a mountain bike, but Tomac is one of the greatest mountain bikers of all time, and Rich Bartlett is no slouch either. Both of them went on to be test riders for MBA before becoming even more successful with their bicycle careers: Tomac became a legendary mountain (and road) biker, then a bike maker. Today, he’s son Eli’s pro motocross trainer and coach. Bartlett owns the Block Bikes shop at 3135 Rancho Vista Blvd. Unit B, in Palmdale, California 93551.
