Yeti constructs its Turq wind vest from lightweight 48g/m2 Toray stretch-woven fabric. A durable, water-repellent finish is designed to efficiently shed moisture, and the vest can be easily packed down into its built-in stuff sack, making it highly portable and suitable for storage in a pocket or hip pack. A two-way YKK front zipper is utilized for enhanced adjustability. Additionally, an elastic drawcord at the waist allows for a personalized fit. The Turq wind vest comes in any color you want as long as it’s black.

Field test results:

Few pieces of outer wear are as versatile as a vest, and Yeti’s take is exceptionally good. This ultra-lightweight piece packs into its own pocket so small, we were able to stow it in our short or pant pocket. This meant it was always ready to save the day or disappear as things warmed up. The windproof material has a bit of stretch to it, adding to the overall comfort, too. Its fit is loose enough to look good with over-shorts and pants without excess bunching or material flapping. The shoulders go all the way out to the edge, unlike most Lycra-oriented gravel and XC vests that come up a bit short to accommodate a more stretched-out rider position.

Two small features really made this vest a standout: the first is its coarse tooth zipper that has little resistance and is stiff enough to be easily operated with one hand. It’s a seemingly small thing that really helps make mid-ride temperature adjustments on the fly. The second detail that we love is the adjustable elastic drawstring at the waist. It allows you to snug it up when things get really cold or run it loose to fine-tune the airflow. A tall collar helps keep the neck warm when zipped all the way up, too—an area of the body that can really lose heat in the cold if it’s not covered.
